This is what makes us different, we have four hot foiling machines dating back to the 1950’s. They are built to last and give beautiful tactile results time after time. Having a variety of foil stamping presses gives us the ability to hot foil an extensive range of paper, card and other materials with different finishes and colours of foil.
Hot foiling can be can be used stand alone or in conjunction with other printed elements of your artwork design, to achieve the required finished effect.
It is a method of applying a layer of foil onto the card or other substrate being used. Foiling creates a luxury tactile feel on the finished item, which is why it is often used in high end wedding stationery or corporate business printing. Foil printing can be used for the full design or to add highlights and effects to a design that we have first printed on our presses.
This refers to some or all of the design that has been created using a gold foil rather than printed inks or toners.
We are often asked and love to demonstrate to visitors how we make gold foil wedding invitations. We apply foil using traditional hand operated hot foiling machinery that dates back to the middle of the last century and we have decades of experience using them. This means we can always create the required combination of heat, pressure and dwell to match the card type being used and ensure perfect foiled designs.
It is possible to print a version of gold foiling on some of the machines designed for hobby or home use, however these apply their foil in a very different way. If it is the professional high end finish that you require we would advise using a hot foil printer that has invested in the traditional hand operated foiling machines, along with building up many years of experience creating foiled wedding stationery.
Yes, we are happy to send free samples of gold foiling. We believe the quality of our work and hand foiling speaks for itself, especially when combined with the quality of card stack that we use from the likes of G F Smith.

Using our traditional hand hot foiling machines we are able to create beautiful results using Hot Foiling onto Vellum. Often we create the printed part of a design first then apply hot foil as a second process to provide highlights to the invitation or other piece, in the same way you would when designing were a traditional weight card be used. Our most popular hot foil colours are Gold, Rose Gold, Copper, Silver or Holographic. However we can foil in many different colours to meet your requirements. For ideas you can visit https://www.foilco.com/foil-range/ to see the full range. For samples of our work click here.
There are no rules for this, every wedding is different. It can be nice to have a theme of colours running through the stationery that links in with the venue colours, the table settings or those of the bride & grooms outfits. However it is often nice to have the invitations be a stand-alone item that incorporate colours and design that are significant to the couple. It can tell a story of their relationship and add in gold foiling for an extra special touch.
We are often asked if the only finish available is metallic gold foil. We use the full range of foil colours and finishes available, so this means we can offer Satin Gold foil and Matt Gold foil alternatives. Along with many other colour options.
Yes, alongside your gold foiling you can create a design that uses multiple colours of foil. We would recommend contacting us to discuss the design so we can confirm it will work as intended.
Yes, we often emboss designs in foil. This is when the fibres are pushed up in the card to create a raised and foiled image. Embossing is suitable for certain types of design and is best suited to stronger lines, we are able to offer advice on your project if you are considering gold foil embossing, so feel free to get in touch.

Other items of the stationery set can be set at lower weights to compliment the main invite or on the same weight, the choice is yours. We source our stocks from all of the main paper & card merchants and for weddings those from https://www.gfsmith.com/our-papers or https://paper.fedrigoni.com/gbr/papers/ are very popular. If you have a particular stock or budget in made we will nearly always be able to source this from our supplier base.
